Fic
Like so many authors, writing fanfiction helped me discover what I love to write and how to put together a story.
Fic is the playground where I got to do all the weird genre-mashing I’d always wanted to try, and it’s where I figured out that horror romance is my happy place. It also helped me reclaim my voice after a vicious bout of depression kept me from writing for 3 years. Without fic, I wouldn’t be sharing my work now.
These stories are where I took shape as an author. They’re an important part of my writing history, and I’m so pleased to share this work with you. You can find more under my 2 pseudonyms, FannibalToast and Plastic Heart.
Have fun and mind the tags.

Angst with a Happy Ending
Sakaar is well-acquainted with chaos.
First there’s the lost mortal woman who gambles her life on deception—her only shield against the indulgences of the Grandmaster’s palace.
Then there’s the actual God of Lies, whose reign as Odin comes to an abrupt end when his magic is bound in a spell gone wrong.
Stranded together on the unruly garbage planet, they quickly discover that the lies they tell the Grandmaster are just as dangerous as the ones they tell each other. When it comes to undermining the mad ruler and keeping their stories straight, it’s best not to let strategy fall victim to emotion.
After all, trust and temptation are luxuries neither of them can afford.
This is it. The beautiful beast. 300,000 words of true love, fear, angst, fluff, and smut. This fic is the culminating piece that gave me the confidence to pivot to Horror-Romance in my professional writing career. I got to play with body horror and body worship, explore facets of my own identity as a demisexual author, and take all my favorite parts of the horror and romance genres and make them kiss.
While this story strays beyond just horror and romance, it’s the runway that directly led to the writing I’m doing now. Though my current work is much shorter. Usually. I am nothing if not perpetually long-winded.
The Merit of Destruction
Hannibal/Criminal Minds Crossover
Spencer Reid/Will Graham/ Hannibal Lecter
Psychological Thriller, Horror, Elements of Gothic Romance
Angst with a Bitter(sweet?) Ending
There's a darkness coiling in Spencer Reid. Kindled by Cat Adams and ignited by his wrongful imprisonment, he surrenders to his anger, leaving the BAU and cutting ties with his team.
He soon finds himself summoned to an undisclosed location, where Margot Verger and Alana Bloom are waiting. A body has been found in Geneva, elaborately posed, organs missing. They believe Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham have resurfaced, intending to keep a deadly promise made to Alana years ago.
They want Spencer to do more than profile Hannibal and Will: he's meant to catch them. As his fascination with Hannibal and Will grows, he finds the darkness inside him spreading in ways he never could have anticipated.
And he doesn't want it to stop.
I’m incredibly proud of this story. I’m told it’s an emotional wrecking ball.
I loved writing in this world. The elevated horror, gore, and emotional weight of obsession was a damn delight. There are some characters you love to put through misery, and Spencer Reid is one of mine. I love him SO MUCH, but also, give him the Will Graham trauma-treatment, ya know? Let him embrace that darkness and see where it takes him.

Happy Ending
Three months. Two minds. One problem:
Zero orgasms.
Or: when an ex-god takes up residence inside your body and you refuse to masturbate, your new very close roommate takes matters into his own hands.
Well... Yours.
Honestly I’m just sharing this one to flex my smut muscle. Wait, no, that sounds wrong…
I feel like a reader-insert fic is a right of passage. They’re incredibly popular, so a lot of us end up trying our hand at writing them. It was a lot of fun, and hey, it gives you a glimpse of what kind of smutty goodies are waiting in my books.
(Yes, that includes the Monsterbation pun. I’m actually so bummed nobody has ever laughed at that. Nobody’s as charmed by my own silly puns as me, let me tell you.)
